Ayurvedic Healthcare Consultation
with Sharyn Galindo
Ayurveda is a natural healing
system that has been successfully practiced for thousands of
years. Originating in ancient India, this medical tradition
states that each person's path toward optimal health is unique–because
each person is unique. At North Shore Yoga, we use effective,
time-honored principles that focus on understanding your particular
body-mind constitution and the unique nature of your imbalance.
Patients choosing to do an Ayurvedic Consultation
usually do so because they either want to maintain their health
and rejuvenate their energy or heal from more serious diseases.
Imagine being supported to make the changes in your life that
will enhance your healing process. Imagine using specifically
prepared herbal medicines rather than mass-produced drugs to
reduce your symptoms. Ayurvedic healthcare is the path to restore
your alignment with nature.
| It's not unusual
for each of us to have a number of physical and emotional
idiosyncrasies we experience routinely. You might not
even think about them because there is nothing "wrong." The
most common include: |
| • |
Heartburn |
• |
Stiff Joints |
| • |
Dry Skin & Hair |
• |
Tendency to Overheat |
| • |
Insomnia |
• |
Tendency to be Cold |
| • |
Self Doubt |
• |
Irritability |
| • |
Constipation |
• |
Lethargy |
| • |
Diarrhea |
• |
Anxiety |
| • |
Rashes |
• |
Weight Gain |
| • |
Elevated Blood Pressure |
• |
Elevated Blood Sugar |
| • |
Gas, Bloating |
• |
Elevated Cholesterol |
| • |
Acne |
• |
Repeated Colds or Infections |
| • |
Depression |
• |
Lonliness |
Ayurveda recognizes all of these as sub-clinical
expressions of imbalance that, left unchecked, may become more
serious and lead to disease.
With the help of an ayurvedic practitioner, you'll
begin to see the connections between seemingly unrelated conditions
and the underlying causes of imbalance. Once identified, sometimes
simple changes in the foods we eat or our daily habits can
alleviate these imbalances. Not all are easily or quickly fixed
but it's surprising what can happen when you start on the path
to balance.
Through an in-depth evaluation of your state of health, lifestyle
practices and physical attributes, we will develop an understanding
of your unique constitution and any root causes of imbalance
or changes you may be experiencing. Your constitution or Prakruti
is the fundamental and unique balance of three basic energies
called doshas. Your consultation will result in a report of
findings and recommendations to start your path of healing.
Each individualized program may include lifestyle
adjustments, dietary changes, herbs, pranayama practice, meditation,
yoga asana, color therapy, sound therapy, aroma therapy, massage
therapy, and other natural therapeutics. In order to successfully
implement these Ayurvedic principles into your life, frequent
regular follow-up visits are recommended over a six-to twelve-month
period.
The goal of all Ayurvedic programs is to create
within your body and mind an optimum environment for healing
to take place and to maximize your body's ability to heal itself.
Consultation Information:
The initial Ayurvedic Consultation
takes place in two parts
Once an initial meeting time is set,
we will email you some forms to complete and return 24 hours
before the initial meeting. The first meeting will take about
90 minutes. We'll review your health history and discuss your
diet and daily routine and identify the issues you believe
need attention, as well as other conditions that might arise
in consultation. In addition, your ayurvedic pulse will be
taken, and tongue diagnosed.
The second session together, will take
place 3-7 days after the initial meeting and will last 45-60
minutes. At this point we will review some Ayurvedic Principles
, go over all recommendations, explain them thoroughly, and
discuss options with you and answer any questions that arise.
Follow-Up Visits
Follow-up visits after the initial sessions
are extremely useful. This gives you time to begin integrating
the recommendations and see how they're working for you.
Checking in weekly or every 2 weeks after the initial assessment
is recommended initially, to get you on the Ayurvedic path.
Then perhaps following up monthly for several months afterward...
it's all up to you.
Class Pricing:
Initial 2-part ayurvedic assessment
[$125]
60 minute Follow-Up Session [$70]
Herbs and other products are additional
Phone consultations are available. It's ideal
to meet in person but sending a photo of yourself and your
tongue is helpful but not necessary.
